The Mental Health Cooperative is a behavioral health agency exclusively serving adults with serious mental illness and children and adolescents with serious emotional disorders through illness management, rehabilitation, and recovery. MHC was founded in 1993 on the belief that persons with severe mental illness can live quality lives in community settings with ongoing support and treatment. Our heart of service focuses uniquely on those individuals with the greatest needs: those who are often overlooked and underserved. We state with confidence that, "There is Life After Diagnosis". We are committed to equipping clients with the support necessary to recover from the devastating effects of mental illness and lead successful and satisfying lives in the community. MHC is dedicated to making a difference by: Redefining Support We extend our reach to offer comprehensive support in an integrated, seamless system of care. Our wide scope of services are supported by evidence-based and community-based treatment models and include case management, psychiatry, pharmacy, medication management services, housing and other support services that enable the client to live in the community. Additionally, we provide a host of intensive services including 24-hour emergency services, crisis resolution, respite care, and hospitalization alternatives. Reaching the Unreached We open our doors to the most seriously ill; many of whom are not readily accepted elsewhere. In addition to our core system of care, we offer services for special populations such as the homeless, persons in the criminal justice system, those suffering from HIV/AIDS as well as those under court ordered treatment. We see the individuals we serve as people first; the diagnosis should not define who is the person is nor what the person through treatment and support can achieve. Providing Hope and Empowerment Everything we do at MHC is rooted in relationship building and fueled by the belief that “there is life after diagnosis.” We believe that building trustworthy relationships with the clients we serve is the key to breaking down barriers that often impede their recovery and rehabilitation. In our eyes, healthy relationships play a priceless role in recovery. Additionally, our team works tirelessly to communicate a message of hope to the clients: hope that they are not alone, hope that they can learn how to face challenges and overcome obstacles; hope that recovery is possible.
