A former math teacher at Glencliff High School surrendered herself Friday evening on a grand jury indictment charging her with four counts of statutory rape by an authority figure for allegedly having sexual relations with a 17-year-old female student.
The investigation by Sex Crimes Detective Chuck Fleming revealed that Kyra Bryant, 29, developed a relationship with the teenager, who was in Bryant’s class, last fall. In November, Bryant is alleged to have engaged in sexual contact with the victim at the teenager’s home while the girl’s parents were at work and also in Bryant’s classroom during school hours.
The investigation began February 8th after school officials at Glencliff received an anonymous letter indicating that there was a sexual relationship between Bryant and the victim.
Bryant, of 19th Avenue South, resigned from her teaching position shortly after the investigation began.
A former guard at New Visions Youth Development Center surrendered himself on a Grand Jury indictment charging him with two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure for allegedly having sexual relations with a 17-year-old female resident.
The investigation by Sex Crimes Detective Eric Fitzgerald revealed that Jon Greer, 27, developed a relationship with the teenager over a period of several months, beginning in November 2010 until the girl’s discharge from the facility last May. Greer, of Monroe Street, is alleged to have engaged in sexual contact with the victim at the center.
The investigation began last November after other New Visions’ residents reported that they suspected there was a sexual relationship between Greer and the victim.
Officers Tuesday morning arrested a former Dickson County High School teacher and assistant football coach on a grand jury indictment charging him with having sex with a 17-year-old female student at his Bellevue apartment last June.
Shane Bishop, 25, is facing six counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and one count of sexual battery by an authority figure. He was taken into custody at 8 a.m. outside his home at 7221 Highway 70 South. He is presently jailed in lieu of $25,000 bond.
Sex Crimes Detective Eric Fitzgerald’s investigation began after he was notified of the alleged relationship between Bishop and the student by the Dickson County District Attorney’s Office. An investigation of Bishop by Dickson County authorities is continuing.
Bishop resigned from the Dickson County school system last November 28th.
