A former guard at New Visions Youth Development Center surrendered himself on a Grand Jury indictment charging him with two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure for allegedly having sexual relations with a 17-year-old female resident.

The investigation by Sex Crimes Detective Eric Fitzgerald revealed that Jon Greer, 27, developed a relationship with the teenager over a period of several months, beginning in November 2010 until the girl’s discharge from the facility last May. Greer, of Monroe Street, is alleged to have engaged in sexual contact with the victim at the center.

The investigation began last November after other New Visions’ residents reported that they suspected there was a sexual relationship between Greer and the victim.

Sex Crimes detectives Thursday booked priest Luis Garcia-Barreto on a grand jury indictment charging him with three counts of sexual battery against an adult female employee of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Nolensville Pike, where they both worked.

Garcia-Barreto, 52, surrendered at police headquarters after being informed of the indictment. He was released after posting an $85,000 bond.

Investigation by Detective Jill Weaver led to the indictment, which alleges that Garcia-Barreto groped and inappropriately touched the 49-year-old victim on at least three occasions over the past several months.
