Teresitta Jones, 24, is charged with two counts of child neglect after her two children, ages 10 and one, were found unattended inside a hotel room at the Scottish Inn on Murfreesboro Pike.

A citizen became concerned for the children’s welfare when he knocked on the door and found the children alone at 11:30 p.m. He contacted police. Jones returned about one hour later. Recovered from the room, in reach of the 10-year-old, were a small amount of marijuana, loose Ibuprofen pills and bottles of amoxicillin and penicillin.

Jones, who has a previous disorderly conduct conviction, is charged with two counts of child neglect. She remains jailed in lieu of $11,000 bond.

The Department of Children’s Services took custody of the children.
