Convicted armed robber Adrain Talley has admitted to his involvement in Saturday night’s robbery of the Dollar General Store at 415 W. Trinity Lane and is back behind bars thanks to the fast on-scene response by North Precinct officers and the tracking skills of Canine Officer Brad Bracey and his partner, Dax.

Talley, 42, of Boyd Drive, is alleged to have been armed with a semi-automatic pistol when he walked into the store just before 9 p.m. and demanded money. He was accompanied by two other individuals. The suspects took cash from the business and one of the customers just as officers arrived on the property. The robbers fled through a side door and headed into a nearby wood line. Officer Bracey and Dax tracked the suspects in and out of the woods. As they got to the 2300 block of Monticello Drive, Dax apprehended Talley, who was concealing himself in thick brush. Talley had a pistol in his right hand and was ordered by Officer Bracey at gunpoint to drop his weapon. Talley complied.

During an interview with Detective Stanley Truitt, Talley confessed to taking part in the hold-up. He is jailed on two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of unlawful weapon possession by a convicted felon. A judicial commissioner set Talley’s bond at $12,500.

Records reflect Talley was convicted of aggravated robbery and assault with intent to murder in 1989, and aggravated robbery in 1997.

Detectives are continuing in their efforts to identify Talley’s accomplices.

Convicted armed robber Victor Terean Ford is back behind bars today, this time charged with firing a gun at a police officer.

At 1 a.m. today, North Precinct Officers Joshua Mauzy and Nicholas Carter were dispatched to the 900 block of 16th Avenue North in the Andrew Jackson public housing development on a shots fired call. Officer Mauzy arrived first and saw several persons in and beside a Pontiac Aztec. The officer approached the group and, for his safety, was about to pat down Ford when Ford suddenly took off running. Officer Mauzy chased Ford on Blank Street and closed to within 20 to 25 feet when Ford fired one shot from a pistol. The round missed. Officer Mauzy did not return fire, but continued the chase. Ford was apprehended a short time later attempting to hide under a porch. A .25- caliber pistol and a baggie of marijuana were recovered from along the pursuit path.

In addition to the aggravated assault on an officer count, Ford, of Georgia Avenue, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, marijuana possession, resisting a police stop, evading arrest and criminal trespassing. His bond is set at $94,000.

Ford was convicted of armed robbery in 2005 and received an eight-year sentence.

One of the men originally seated in the Aztec was also arrested after Officer Nicholas Carter found that he was sitting on a baggie of crack cocaine and had a pistol nearby. Michael D. Ingram, 40, of Herman Street, who received a ten-year sentence in 2008 for a felony cocaine conviction and is presently on parole, is now jailed on felony drug and gun charges.
