Southwest Airlines has notified Nashville International Airport (BNA) of several flight adjustments to its seasonal fall schedule. Southwest will be increasing the following daily flights beginning Oct. 1 through Nov. 4.
Southwest will increase the following markets by one daily flight:
Baltimore/Washington (BWI) – from 6 to 7
New Orleans (MSY) – from 2 to 3
Providence (PVD) – from 0 to 1
“These are seasonal changes that occur regularly each year,” said Raul Regalado, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, which owns and operates Nashville International.
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) will conduct its annual live fire training exercise on the cargo ramp located on the west side of Nashville International Airport (BNA) near the Observation Lot on Vultee Boulevard on March 1 and 2.
The training may be visible to drivers from Murfreesboro Pike and McGavock Pike, as well as from Briley Parkway. Members of the public should not be alarmed as this is a training exercise. For safety reasons, the Airport Authority also encourages the public not to impede traffic flow in this area.
MNAA’s Department of Public Safety will utilize a Mobile Aircraft Firefighting Trainer (MAFT) to help facilitate this training, which is required annually by federal aviation regulations. Training with the MAFT allows Airport Authority personnel to train with their equipment and standard operating procedures. By training at BNA, the Airport Authority’s Department of Public Safety officers can train with mutual aid fire departments and learn together the procedures and techniques needed to save lives should an aircraft accident/incident occur.
The Airport Authority’s Department of Public Safety is certified by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) making BNA one of the very few U.S. airports with a public safety unit having this certification. BNA was the second airport in North America to become CALEA-certified and still is one of only seven airports in North America currently certified. MNAA has a full public safety department that provides law enforcement, fire-fighting and EMS services. All MNAA’s public safety officers are fully certified as commissioned police officers, firefighters and trained emergency services providers.
